3 Tips to Enhance Your Bible Reading Experience

Have you ever picked up a bible and wondered where to begin, or have you ever read a passage and thought “I have no idea what I just read”? Sadly most Bible readers find themselves in this situation. I recently had the pleasure of hearing a sermon, delivered by Bishop Jerry Hutchens, the pastor of Timothy Baptist Church in Athens, Ga, on reading the Bible. I know, I know, it sounds a bit simple for a Sunday morning sermon, but it was a well delivered and much needed sermon for the era of Christianity we are in now. According to a recent study only 16% of Americans read there bible daily. That must be the reason most Christians don’t know the importance of reading and studying the Word of God. 1 Timothy 4:8 and many other scriptures in the Bible clearly tell us that we should give special attention to reading. More specifically reading God’s word. In Psalm 119:9 the author tells us that we must be cleaned through the word. How will we know the Word if we don’t read it? Hopefully this blog will not only enhance your bible reading, but encourage you to read it more.

Tip #1: NEVER READ YOUR BIBLE ALONE

Most of the things in the bible are spiritual instructions that we apply to our natural lives. The only way to truly understand the deeper meanings of the book is to read it under the influence and instruction of the Holy Spirit. Most people develop a very basic understanding of the Bible and are satisfied with that, but to unlock the true secrets and the revelations of God you must be spiritually enhanced, meaning you need the Holy Ghost.

Tip #2: READ IT MEDITATIVELY

It is impossible to get full understanding of a passage with one reading. You must read that passage over and over again. This goes hand and hand with the first tip. The Holy Ghost doesn’t answer instantly all the time, so until he does keep reading. I have been reading the same story for about four days now, and I get something new out of it every time I read it. The Bible is not like a mashed potatoes, you can just swallow them with out even chewing. The Bible is like a well cooked 22 oz. sirloin steak. You have to cut it up, eat it slowly to really enjoy the flavors, and finally when it is chewed well enough you can swallow it. Take your time, read it carefully, and let your soul enjoy the meal.

Tip #3: READ IT AND APPLY IT

I remember back in high school I could never see where geometry or trigonometry would fit into a real life situation. With the Bible it’s not like that. As stated earlier, the Bible is full of spiritual instructions that we can apply to our natural lives. God’s word is applicable to every scenario and situation we face in our life. After all He already knew what you would go through, it’s right that He gave you the tools to go through it. A lot of people don’t understand that the Bible is more than words on a page. It is Life! It gives you the power and authority to change your situation. Put it to work and let it change your life around.

More important than any of the tips is actually reading your bible. To the Christian it’s not just a book of instructions or commandments. It’s Life, and with out it we perish. So start today, pick it up, dust it off and read it. I promise it will help you. Remember to tune in to the King’s Den every Sunday at 5:30pm EST. at www.blogtalkradio.com/thekingsden.

The Triple Threat Movement

Motto:

It’s not a religion, it’s a REALigion

Mission Statement:

The basic goal of the Triple Threat Movement is to lead the masses in the fight against the enemy. We understand and have an unwavering faith that the battle is already won. Our ultimate purpose is to unmask the illusion that we don’t have control over our lives. Being children of God, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we have the victory! It is the mission of the Triple Threat to inspire the multitudes to believe and stand firmly on the previous statement. We will be living examples, walking in the straight and narrow, understanding that we may fall, but believing in repentance and forgiveness. We hold steadfast to the promises of God, and speak blessings, prosperity, healing, deliverance, miracles, love, peace, and happiness into our lives and the lives of those we come in contact with. As we embark on this journey, we hold securely to the words of the great Prophet Isaiah; “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn”-Isaiah 61:1-2.

Thank you all for reading and showing interest in the Triple Threat Movement. You may be wondering how do I join the Triple Threat Movement. Well, you can hit me up on Facebook (facebook.com/micah.king1), twitter (twitter.com/thekingsden), or MySpace (myspace.com/mike_luv07). I encourage you to join and support the movement. Happiness:My Personal Testimony

What does it mean to be content with life. Does money make you content? Is it family? Is it love? What truly makes a person happy? Questions like these have puzzled mankind for as long as they have existed. Many scholars, philanthropists, preachers, and scientists have tried every method possible to find a clear cut answer to how one achieves happiness. Almost every person reaches a place in there life where they have to stop and ask themselves , am I really happy?

Friends and family I find myself at that point today. As I sit a scroll through my friend’s status’s on the different social websites I notice the plethora of sad or discontent statements and characters. I can’t help but ask myself, why? Why are these young people so depressed and down in the dumps, if you will? Ladies and gentlemen this bothers me. To see so many young people so melancholy. These are people who should be so full of life and living without a care in the world. Based on my experiences, happiness just came. There were some down moments, but that is when my family and friends really came together and prayed and showed so much love that one couldn’t help but to be happy. But the point of this blog is not to preach to the young people or to get on to the adults for not reaching out to them, it is to evaluate my life and answer the question for myself, am I truly happy?

To simply answer the question, yes, I am happy. After a close evaluation of my life, I can say I am happy. I am a young well built, healthy, decent looking young man. I have very big dreams and ambitions, to God be the glory for giving me the abilities and the opportunities to achieve them. I have two very great parents, and a very loving family. Even after all that though, there is one thing that just makes it near impossible for me to look down and complain about anything. That is my salvation and my faith in God. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” You see friends my happiness comes from the peace that God has given me through his son Christ Jesus. I know that no matter what comes everything will be alright.

I wasn’t trying to preach or convince anybody to rush into salvation, even though you should consider it. What I really want to encourage everyone to do is really evaluate your life. Take the good with the bad and ask yourself is it really that bad? And always remember that someone always has it worse than you.
